Outfit Ideas: What To Wear For NYE

Happy NYE everyone!

Can you believe that 2015 is coming to end already! I mean come on, it feels like we just rang in 2015, no? I know we say this every year, but this year just felt like it went by extra fast. As you reflect on the past year, gear up for the new one and set your goals and resolutions, you always have that one question lingering in your mind: What should I wear? With just a day away from the biggest celebration world wide I thought I’d give you a hand. So don’t fret, here are three fab looks for you to steal to ring in the New Year in style.

Luxe in Tuxe

I love a good blazer dress and paired with some thigh high boots, yum! This is a great alternative to the typical super tight LBD. It’s “tight enough to show that you’re a woman and loose enough to show that you’re lady.” Baby it’s cold outside, so not only are you keeping your pedi in tact, but those legs will be nicely warmed. Keeping it business on top and a little sassy on the bottom, you’re guaranteed to have heads turning all night. Leave your out and sleek the front back with some gel with a red lip to finish the look.

Blush Crush

Blush is a subtle way to add colour without the pop. I personally consider blush a neutral and it’s a great way to incorporate colour into an already neutral wardrobe. It’s also a great alternative to wearing something red because it’s unexpected. Super popular right now, a high neck top is chic, sexy and classy. I paired it with a feathered skirt and leopard print pumps, and topped it off with a blush coat and silver accessories. Because this is a neutral look, you can see that I played with patterns and textures to vamp up this look. A sleek pony with pink lips finishes the look.

Suit It Up

Not feeling the dress this year? No problem, a little black suit does the trick. Take that nine to five suit and give it a spin by replacing your white button up with a sequin bandeau top. What makes this masculine look so sexy is showing the right amount of skin in the right places. Your neck, shoulders and midriff are the stars tonight. Finish this look with a centre part sleek back bun and deep red lips.

Outfit Ideas: What To Wear To A Holiday Dinner

Happy Holidays everyone!

It’s that time of the year again! This is the best time of the year to have an excuse to get all dolled up, with our hair did, nails did and everything did. We’re all so caught up in our own lives during the year so why not put on your very best when you visit the family. Yes I know what you’re thinking, we’re just going to eat and sit around anyways so why dress up. Dressing up just makes you feel good and when you feel good it shows and people notice. Not to mention how contagious it is. So go on and spread the good vibes and energy.

With Christmas just a day away I’ve pulled together three outfit ideas to get you through your dinner rounds this weekend. Whether you want to keep it comfy, glam or trendy, get style inspired and shop your favourite look below.

Ready to Rock

This is a great semi-casual look for the gals who want to be comfy, with some edge to it. Sweater dresses are super popular this season and they’re a quick go-to piece to make your dinner rounds this weekend.

Glam Gal

This look is great for a dinner soirée where a dresscode is implied. Cocktails and o’dourves are served, music is playing and conversations are flowing. Even though you are covered up, this is a very sexy and sophisticated look. Leather is a sexy material, while red is a sexy colour. Put the two together and you have a match made in holiday fashion heaven.

Cozy Chic

This is my version of the sweat pants and hoodie plus Uggs. It’s a cozy and comfortable look without looking like you just rolled out of bed. I chose I slightly oversized knit sweater in mustard, an a-line skirt and over-the-knee boots for a casual feel. StyleTip: Pairing a slightly oversized sweater with a dressy bottom will give the same effect.

Leopard Is A Neutral

Happy Friday!

If you don’t know, then now you know! Leopard is a neutral – at least in my eyes. If you think about it, the colours in a leopard print are just black and variations of camel, but paired together they seem more threatening right! Breaking down the colours in a print this way makes it much easier to work with. For today’s look I used the black in the leopard print as my starting point. I wanted the skirt to be the centre of attention so my other pieces were black to let that happen. Always keeping my accessories to a minimum, I added just a statment belt for a hint of glam. Plated belts like these are not only a great way to cinch in your waist, but also a great way tie your whole look together for a clean and chic feel. I finished the look with my favourite pointed toe booties and a coat over the shoulders. The shades were actually a last minute touch because I tend to close my eyes alot in photos. This helped to get better shots quicker. This is a look I would wear over the holiday to dinner or a night out with the girls.

Cheers to the weekend!

I still cannot believe that it’s mid December and it’s still so mild outside. But i’m not complaining by any means. I’m enjoying every bit of it while it lasts.

I put together today’s look with a relaxed vibe in mind. When you think of mini skirts, sexy automatically comes to mind because you are showing your legs. Also usually with a-line skirt, pairing it with a more fitted top tucked in gives you a more pulled together look. Instead I wanted to look less put together so I left my white button up hanging over the skirt. I paired it with some pantyhose from H&M, which are super cheap and is usually my go to place to buy them. Over the years i’ve had such a love/hate relationship with pantyhose. They’re such an essential item when you live in a colder climate yet they can be such a pain in the butt. They do wonders for our legs, but god forbid something clings onto it and there goes that pair. I’ve purchased expensive pairs and i’ve purchased cheaper ones. The conclusion is I don’t see a huge difference in fit, but a slight difference in the amount of wears you get out of it. They both get ruined the same way, but with a little hair spray or a little freezing technique (I can’t wait to try) apparently they last longer. I finished up the look with a leather jacket from Suzy Shier and some black booties. Lastly, I tied a gray knitted sweater around my waist for some cool factor. For me this is a great styling trick to make you look less put together, as if little to no thought was put into your look. Paired with a leather jacket and you’re an instant cool chick. Sexy is always the easy route for us women, but try turning that sexy look into something loose from time to time because loose is sexy too.

I’ll Have A Camel And Black Combo Please!

Happy Friday everyone!

I know we always say it this time of the year, but can you believe it’s already December? But hey the closer we are to Christmas means that we are that much closer to Summer! Nothing but positive thinking over here.

Today I’m wearing my go-to camel coat. Camel coats are super popular right now and they’re just an awesome neutral piece to have to throw on over any outfit. If you’re pretty clueless about what your personal style is, a camel coat can give you an instant cool factor and easily give people style envy. It’s a great starter piece that will stay as a staple in your wardrobe. I’m a huge fan of the camel and black colour combo so I had to take it for a spin myself. This is a simple look you can recreate by just wearing black pants, a black top and black shoes and then of course topping it off with the camel coat. For my top I decided to wear a graphic sweater to just give the look a pop without colour. This is something you can also try, if neutrals are your thing but you are unsure on of how to incorporate some pop in your look, try a graphic top. I mentioned in a previous post that I snatched up my camel coat from H&M for a great deal, but I also have my eye on a few other candidates. Zara and Topshop are my two in-store options, but I haven’t really scoped out the online options. This is a piece you will definitely want to try on for fit, length and warmth before making that commitment. For a good quality one that can take you into at least five seasons that you will drop a couple hundred dollars on, you should get it right the first time. When I make that decision I’m really looking forward in sharing that with you guys and possibly do a ‘ways to wear’ a camel coat style story.
