Leopard Is A Neutral

Happy Friday!

If you don’t know, then now you know! Leopard is a neutral – at least in my eyes. If you think about it, the colours in a leopard print are just black and variations of camel, but paired together they seem more threatening right! Breaking down the colours in a print this way makes it much easier to work with. For today’s look I used the black in the leopard print as my starting point. I wanted the skirt to be the centre of attention so my other pieces were black to let that happen. Always keeping my accessories to a minimum, I added just a statment belt for a hint of glam. Plated belts like these are not only a great way to cinch in your waist, but also a great way tie your whole look together for a clean and chic feel. I finished the look with my favourite pointed toe booties and a coat over the shoulders. The shades were actually a last minute touch because I tend to close my eyes alot in photos. This helped to get better shots quicker. This is a look I would wear over the holiday to dinner or a night out with the girls.

I’ll Have A Camel And Black Combo Please!

Happy Friday everyone!

I know we always say it this time of the year, but can you believe it’s already December? But hey the closer we are to Christmas means that we are that much closer to Summer! Nothing but positive thinking over here.

Today I’m wearing my go-to camel coat. Camel coats are super popular right now and they’re just an awesome neutral piece to have to throw on over any outfit. If you’re pretty clueless about what your personal style is, a camel coat can give you an instant cool factor and easily give people style envy. It’s a great starter piece that will stay as a staple in your wardrobe. I’m a huge fan of the camel and black colour combo so I had to take it for a spin myself. This is a simple look you can recreate by just wearing black pants, a black top and black shoes and then of course topping it off with the camel coat. For my top I decided to wear a graphic sweater to just give the look a pop without colour. This is something you can also try, if neutrals are your thing but you are unsure on of how to incorporate some pop in your look, try a graphic top. I mentioned in a previous post that I snatched up my camel coat from H&M for a great deal, but I also have my eye on a few other candidates. Zara and Topshop are my two in-store options, but I haven’t really scoped out the online options. This is a piece you will definitely want to try on for fit, length and warmth before making that commitment. For a good quality one that can take you into at least five seasons that you will drop a couple hundred dollars on, you should get it right the first time. When I make that decision I’m really looking forward in sharing that with you guys and possibly do a ‘ways to wear’ a camel coat style story.

In the meantime, get style inspired with this look and shop some camel coat options below.

Happy Friday!

Who says you can’t wear sequins during the day! Well, growing up we were all told to save those ‘special’ pieces for only ‘special occasions’. You know, your birthday, a wedding, Christmas party, New Years Eve etc. In the last couple of years I’ve had to ask myself why am I saving these special pieces for just a one-time wear. My motto now is ‘if you’ve got it, wear it!’ I mean why have items sitting there collecting dust when you purchased it to wear it. I sure was guilty of this because I’ve actually had this blazer for a while now, but only worn it a couple of times. It’s a great stand-alone piece that I can also just throw on with a t-shirt and jeans, no accessories needed. For cocktail hour I can also throw it over a fitted mini dress and go! If you’re not a heels gal and you have a lot of walking to do during your day, I suggest switching the heels in for some white sneakers instead. I’m also wearing my bodysuit of the moment from Missguided with leather pants from Forever 21. The bag I purchased from Value Village years ago, but it’s nice to see that this style is coming around again and in stores now. Get style inspired and shop the look below!

Thankful For Tights

So thankful for tights! It’s the one item I can wear around the house, to bed, running errands, to the gym, and even out for the night. I’ve paired them with sneakers, heels, boots and everything in between. Plus they make your legs look long and lean – no wonder men love seeing us in them.

This is a casual look I would wear to run errands or go shopping in because it’s super comfy and not fussy. The boots not so much because realistically they are way too high to run errands in, but I loved the way they looked against the gray. I would most likely trade in these for some flatforms or sneakers instead. This t-shirts I found by accident shopping in Orlando, Florida and wish I bought five more. It’s now my go to t-shirt because it has the right amount of looseness yet it’s tailored in the arm area so that it’s not too baggy.

I cannot think of another clothing item besides t-shirts that are the most unisex item. Why I say this? For one, it can be made so that both men and women can wear it. A prime example are oversized long t-shirts, they are super popular and seen everywhere now. It’s made and marketed for both sexes to wear it. If you disagree I would love to hear it from in the comment section. Hope you get style inspired and shop this look below.

Happy Sunday!

In addition to providing outfit ideas and style tips, I thought it’s only fitting to add some of my favourite celebrity looks to the site. Afterall, I do get some of my style inspirations from some of my celebrity style crushes. Style stalking is a hobby right! To make it a little challenging, only all black (sometimes with white) looks will be featured in this style round up. In addition, similar more affordable versions of each looks will be included. So let’s get right into it – here are my favourite looks of the week!

Lately I love to dress up active wear. This look would be perfect if I happen to have a lunch plans with a girlfriend or a quick meeting before a workout session (if I worked out). Throwing some heels on with your gym wear makes for an easy transition from the patio to the gym. Forever 21 has a great affordable selection of active wear and these cropped leggings were a steal. The ‘Epic Weekend’ crop top were from H&M last summer, but it’s still a great simple piece to throw on. Tie any black sweater you have around your waist and finish off with some ankle strap heels. The inspiration for this look came from street style photos I see during fashion weeks of Fashion Editors. I mean, if I were to choose the top five pieces you should own to look like a Fashion Editor, these would be on the list. Fashion Editors do a great job at mixing unlikely pieces together and it somehow works! Every time I see a street snap of them I think to myself ‘I would have never put those pieces together’. I’m trying to adopt the mindset that if I don’t think it would go together, try it anyways. The boldest piece in this look of course is the leopard face sweater – a little secret, this sweater actually itches like crazy so I most definitely won’t be wearing this for long periods. It was on sale, so I just had to have it! I’m really into platform slip-ons lately and I love them. They’re super comfortable and I think of them like a dressy sneaker because it really dresses up your outfit. When I don’t want to wear heels, but I still want a little bit of height, this is my go-to shoes. Get style inspired and shop the look below!

10 Items Every Woman Should Own Before 30

As the clock ticks down to the day I turn 30 (not fretting or anything) I’m becoming more of the woman I want to be. Not only emotionally and intellectually, but also when it comes to my personal style. I’m taking more risks, but also being mindful of what is appropriate for every part of my life. Knowing what works for me and what does not work for me. What I should splurge on versus what I can save on. Where and when to buy certain items. Over the past year and half I’ve really been sticking to the ‘less is more’ mindset when it comes to my wardrobe. If I purchase something new I remove something from my closet so that it’s not cluttered with pieces I no longer wear anymore. Editing and maintaining your wardrobe should not be something you do only at the start of Spring, but on a regular basis. Along with editing your wardrobe, you should also have key pieces that are considered your ‘go-to’ timeless items that will help build any look you want. These are the pieces that will help create your style uniform. The ones that will come in handy for that very important meeting, interview, first date or dinner party. I’ve rounded up my top 10 pieces every woman (and me) should own before 30.
