Back in black! When I was putting this look together I thought this is something I would have worn to a party when I was in highschool. ha! Fast-forward to today and not so much! Completing this look with some flatforms toned down the ‘sexiness’ a bit and gave it a more sporty vibe. I actually had no intentions of buying these shoes, but came across them on sale at Topshop and couldn’t leave without them. The bralette, I literally saw the T by Alexander Wang version on Rihanna and had to get it (in white as well). The skirt is from a store at a local mall I bought about five years ago. So we all know about the ‘Little Black Dress by now right – or the LBD as it’s most commonly known as. I mean, it is a staple in every woman’s wardrobe. With the popularity of wearing lingerie as outerwear on the rise it’s only fitting that I introduce you to the ‘Little Black Bra’. Or as I like to call it LBB. I’ve always had a thing for lace, especially when it comes to lingerie. Lace is sexy, feminine, classy and most importantly comfortable. I especially love that the LBB is perfect for ladies like myself who are apart of the itty bitty titty committee. So this post goes out to you all. Growing up society had us ladies believing that lingerie is worn to please men – don’t me wrong, there is nothing wrong with wearing lingerie for that special someone. However, Ditta von Teese said it best “Lingerie is not about seducing men, it’s about embracing womanhood.” I couldn’t agree with her more. See my picks for some of the best little black bra styles out there.
The inspiration for this look came from street style photos I see during fashion weeks of Fashion Editors. I mean, if I were to choose the top five pieces you should own to look like a Fashion Editor, these would be on the list. Fashion Editors do a great job at mixing unlikely pieces together and it somehow works! Every time I see a street snap of them I think to myself ‘I would have never put those pieces together’. I’m trying to adopt the mindset that if I don’t think it would go together, try it anyways. The boldest piece in this look of course is the leopard face sweater – a little secret, this sweater actually itches like crazy so I most definitely won’t be wearing this for long periods. It was on sale, so I just had to have it! I’m really into platform slip-ons lately and I love them. They’re super comfortable and I think of them like a dressy sneaker because it really dresses up your outfit. When I don’t want to wear heels, but I still want a little bit of height, this is my go-to shoes. Get style inspired and shop the look below!
I’m a sucker for mini dresses and skirts. With my height they’re a great way to make your legs look longer. For a sexy feminine look I would pair mines with some sandal heels to show off the legs. In this look I decided to go with the over-the-knee boots to give the dress a more stylish edge. This shirt dress actually doubles as both a top and a dress, so very versatile. There’s just something about over-the-knee boots paired with wide brim hats that just works. Topping it off with the hat was a no-brainer. Even though this look is a ‘fashion’ look, it is actually sexy too. Showing just the right amount of skin between my knee and thigh leaves a lot to the imagination. Shop the look below!
Loose is sexy too! I love pairing over-sized pieces with heels like I did here with this Adidas Number faux leather top and heels. Taken from one of my favorite quotes by Marilyn Monroe, I like my clothes to be tight enough to show that I’m a woman but loose enough to show that I’m a lady. I chose ripped jeans to add a little edge to the look. For the most part, I make all my own ripped jeans, or I will buy them a little ripped and then distress it a bit more. I finished the look by just holding a hat as an accessory instead of wearing it. I would wear this look to a concert, a night out with the girls or just running errands on the weekend.
Currently going through an all black phase. Black is classic, black is slimming, black is simple and black says I don’t bother you so don’t bother me. Plus it goes with everything! Also having a thing for wide brims hats – it’s such a perfect ending to your style story. It instantly takes your look from bland to bold. I purchased mines from one of my favourite stores Forever 21 for just $18.
The tights are Zara – which I must say fits me like a glove and I don’t have to keep pulling up the crotch section like most inexpensive tights. The tee is Titika Active Couture and it’s one of my favourite brands for basic tees. It was pretty much love at first touch, the material is everything and super soft.
Platform slip-ons are my current go to shoes. With the added height it dresses up your look a bit and makes you legs look super long and lean – especially in tights.
The warm weather is upon us and what better way to kick-start it than in a little black dress. I paired my LBD with some black on black casual sneakers because I didn’t want to do the obvious and wear black pumps. Topped off the look with some cat ears just to add some fun to the look. Side note: Animal ears are a cute alternative to wearing a tiara. It’s fun and playful, yet you’re letting the world know that you’re still an adult.
For the past couple of years I’ve learnt that fashion rules are great and they should be used as a guide to help us polish and refine our own personal style. They shouldn’t be used as your end and be all on how you dress on a daily basis because sometimes mixing it up is so refreshing. The dress is from Sirens Fashion I purchased a couple of years ago and the sneakers are from a sportswear store in an outlet mall. The cat ears were purchased online from one of my go to places to purchase affordable items, Aliexpress. Ever since my closest girlfriend told me about this site, I’ve been hooked! I literally check this site regularly just to see which items I can purchase at a much cheaper price.
