Back in black! When I was putting this look together I thought this is something I would have worn to a party when I was in highschool. ha! Fast-forward to today and not so much! Completing this look with some flatforms toned down the ‘sexiness’ a bit and gave it a more sporty vibe. I actually had no intentions of buying these shoes, but came across them on sale at Topshop and couldn’t leave without them. The bralette, I literally saw the T by Alexander Wang version on Rihanna and had to get it (in white as well). The skirt is from a store at a local mall I bought about five years ago. The inspiration for this look came from street style photos I see during fashion weeks of Fashion Editors. I mean, if I were to choose the top five pieces you should own to look like a Fashion Editor, these would be on the list. Fashion Editors do a great job at mixing unlikely pieces together and it somehow works! Every time I see a street snap of them I think to myself ‘I would have never put those pieces together’. I’m trying to adopt the mindset that if I don’t think it would go together, try it anyways. The boldest piece in this look of course is the leopard face sweater – a little secret, this sweater actually itches like crazy so I most definitely won’t be wearing this for long periods. It was on sale, so I just had to have it! I’m really into platform slip-ons lately and I love them. They’re super comfortable and I think of them like a dressy sneaker because it really dresses up your outfit. When I don’t want to wear heels, but I still want a little bit of height, this is my go-to shoes. Get style inspired and shop the look below!
Keeping it simple with some ripped denim, a white structured top and nude pointed toe pumps. I have to admit, I’m becoming a bit obsessed with nudes and neutral tones. It simple, chic and can actually make your outfit look expensive. Nudes go with anything, so you can easily mix and match the same pieces to create your personal uniform. Style Tip: When in doubt, wear nude. I’m also a huge fan of pairing the not so obvious pieces together – like I did here with a more dressier top and ripped denim. This top was actually purchased back in 2011 from Zara and I ‘ve kept it in good condition because it’s one of my favourite pieces. Boxy tops like this are still in and is actually a classic piece because you can use this to build with other pieces in your wardrobe. Also, white is still going strong and again another hit for Spring, as seen on the SS15 runways.
