Ripped Denim

Simply Said

Keeping it simple with some ripped denim, a white structured top and nude pointed toe pumps. I have to admit, I’m becoming a bit obsessed with nudes and neutral tones. It simple, chic and can actually make your outfit look expensive. Nudes go with anything, so you can easily mix and match the same pieces to create your personal uniform. Style Tip: When in doubt, wear nude. I’m also a huge fan of pairing the not so obvious pieces together – like I did here with a more dressier top and ripped denim. This top was actually purchased back in 2011 from Zara and I ‘ve kept it in good condition because it’s one of my favourite pieces. Boxy tops like this are still in and is actually a classic piece because you can use this to build with other pieces in your wardrobe. Also, white is still going strong and again another hit for Spring, as seen on the SS15 runways.

It’s safe to say that denim is the one fabric that every person has in their closet. It’s one of the most worn materials out there, coming in an endless slew of styles, shapes, sizes and colour. Ripped denim  is nothing new to the fashion world, but for some reason this trend has been on the forefront of every stylish person’s wardrobe s recently. Walk into any major retailer today and you will definitely see ripped jeans hanging on the racks. Whether you’re shelling out the bucks to snatch yourself the latest pair or DIYing your old pairs, you’re sure to get your wears worth. See below some of my favourite looks put together by some oh so stylish ladies.

Dress up your ripped jeans with a peplum top in a dressy fabric, finishing off with funky pumps.

Mix your prints to add some spice to a casual look.

A neutral crisp button-down, plus a pointed-toe pump, with a light washed ripped jeans creates chemistry in your look.

Layers over ripped jeans and finishing off with flats is put together without trying too hard.

Not sure how to wear ripped white jeans? Try wearing an all white look like this stylish lady did.

A structured blazer and sequin heels are a great way to take ripped jeans into the night.

An over-sized sweater is a great way to play with proportions, as seen here paired with some ripped skinny jeans.

This look is great for the weekend. These ripped short shorts paired with pointed-toe flats balances this look very well.

You can never go wrong with pairing your ripped jeans with some kicks.

Borrow from the boyfriends is everywhere in this look.

Contrast works oh so well in this look: From over-sized blazer over basic tee, to ripped skinnies hanging just above pointed heels and finishing off with an envelope style clutch.

Not sure what to wear? Start with black and white, then add colour. In this case, ripped jeans stole the show.

There is  a lot happening in this look, but for some reason, it works! If you’re not totally into this entire look, try just a basic sweater over your ripped jeans and finish off with an over-sized coat.

A ripped denim pencil skirt paired with a button-up is a great spin on the classic pencil skirt look. A great way to bring your 9-5 wear into the weekend.

The key to pulling this look off is to ensure your waist fits and the leg is loose. Pair these baggy ripped jeans with a fitted top to balance the look.
