Summer

Black, White & Mesh

Happy Friday all!

This is a look I photographed over two months ago when the weather was warm. I didn’t post this look sooner because quite frankly at the time it was not one of favourite looks to date. It’s one of those moment where the outfit looks so much better in your head than it does in photos. Over the weeks it has grown on me and I thought that I would share it with you guys to get a little style inspiration if where you are is warm right now. Keeping in theme with my recent obsession with black and white, I wanted to create a casual sporty look. Even though you cannot see the t-shirt as much, it’s from Zara and it was really a spur of the moment buy. I also love the words of wisdom written on the t-shirt “Not having the time to plan. Sometimes you just need to take a deep breath and start all over again.” The mesh hoodie cover up I purchased in Orlando, Florida at a cute little store in a strip mall. I purchased this one because i’ve been looking for a black mesh cover up for summer for a while now. Too bad I found it at the end of summer, but I definitely can’t wait to rock it next summer and on vacation. Both my shorts tights and flatforms are from Forever 21. The hat is from Urban Planet.

Get style inspired and shop this look below. Plus leave a comment and tell me what you think of this look.

7 Black One-Pieces To wear This Summer

With the comeback of the one-piece, you’re bound to see it all over the beach and poolside this summer. Since the 90s we have not seen much of the one-piece on the list of fashion trends. We’re being brought back to those days where you didn’t have to show your belly button to be sexy. Less sometimes do go a long way and a black one-piece shows confidence, femininity and a regal stature. Black is classic, black is slimming and black says ‘I don’t bother you so don’t bother me.’ With that said, see seven black one-piece styles you can wear this summer.

11 Stylish Ways to Wear Tulle Skirts

unnamed

I’m a huge fan of wearing occasion specific pieces during the day. I mean, why wait for a wedding or a black tie event to go all out. Despite all the fashion dos and don’ts, at the end of the day, fashion is all about wearing what you want, when you want and how you want. When you think of tulle skirts you think of toddlers, princesses and tiaras. Well these days, (we can thank Carrie Bradshaw) the tulle skirt is quite the hit amongst fashion It-girls. Below I rounded up 11 fresh and stylish ways to style your tulle skirts this summer.

Happy Friday readers!

Spring is here and you know what that means! Summer is near! The warmer weather just makes life better. We can’t be friends if you disagree with that – ok just kidding! Well a little. With all my excitement for summer on its way I had to round-up all the items and style that will be on repeat in my wardrobe all season. Having key pieces in different colors, sizes, patterns, textures etc. is a great way to establish your own style. You’re mixing it up, but at the same time you’re staying true to your style.  This is how the world will know that this is your uniform. With that said, see my round-up of this Summer’s wardrobe.

Keeping it Neutral

photo 5

Summer is quickly slipping away from us, so this may just be one my last few moments in shorts until Spring. In this look I’m keeping a neutral palette with a pop of colour and mix prints. My tip is to treat leopard print as if it were a neutral – if you’re able to think this way you will be able to pair your leopard print with just about anything with no fear. Keep in mind that in small dosages works best. Here I paired mines with small horizontal stripes, khaki and a pop of orange to give the look some colour. Style tip: when pairing two prints together, make sure one is large and one is just tad smaller to give your outfit some dimension. Khaki is classic and neutral so this sleeveless trench helped pull together my look to give it a cleaner feel. See below for some of my favourite pieces to help you put this look together yourself.

7 Stylish Ways To Wear Your Sandals This Season

photo

When I think of summer, one of the items that immediately comes to mind are sandals. It’s by far one of the easiest items to incorporate into your summer wardrobe that will last you all season. Also a great thing about sandals, is how affordable they are – you have the low ends, high ends and everything else in between. Given that it’s a seasonal item, I wouldn’t consider this an investment piece because you can purchase this at the  start of the season at an affordable price and still wear it seasons to come. I personally have sandals over five years old that are still in good condition and style – and my tip for keeping them looking brand new is cleaning them immediately after each wear. With sandals it’s easy to just slip out of them and slip them back on without any thought. With a wipe, just gently clean the inside and around the edges where dirt would normally catch it. Ladies, don’t forget your pedicures this season because unkept feet during this season is never in style. So to give you a head start on how to wear your sandals this season see some outfit inspirations below.

If you’re a lady who loves her prints, go bold with this look by mixing your prints with no fear.

The gladiator trend is still in ladies, so pair yours with low key pieces to make your feet stand out from the crowd.

I wouldn’t suggest wearing your sandals in a Corporate office, but this look is perfect for the creative office on a Friday.

Another great gladiator look, this time a bit more dressy. What makes this look work without looking like there’s too much going on, is that the colours are neutral. A pop of colour is only added with the bag.

This girly look is given the cool girl look by adding the denim jacket and sunglasses. This look is definitely for the ladies who knows her body who she loves to play with proportions, patterns, fabrics etc.

This is such a simple look, yet so effective in many ways. The striped dress with a little flared hem is perfect for a day time event. Pairing the dress with sandals says ‘i’m okay with my height and i’m comfortable.’ Topped off with a mini red messenger to compliment the look.

Casually Cool

Summer is here and my sandals are out! This season a huge trend are slip ons – dress them up or dress them down, they just make your outfit look super easy. I personally love these hot items because I can skip the heels and easily slip them on for an all day pool party. It does a great job in toning down an overly sexy bikini to create the right balance between sexy and cool.

Also when you think of a pool or patio event white is the colour that often comes to mind. If you’re a complete brand obsess chick, definitely check out the Birkenstocks, if not, Zara’s affordable version are great too. Top is from Suzy Shier, Skinnies are H&M, Sandals are from Ardene. The handbag is one of my best buys from Value Village. See outfit details below.

Crop Stuff

photo

Lately, this has been one of my favorite looks to wear when I go out. It’s feminine enough to show off your curves, and it also shows just the right amount of skin to remind the world that you’re also a lady. The crop top is still a huge trend – a great basic piece to have in your wardrobe to mix and match with dressy and casual pieces. Here I paired my striped piece with a satin pencil skirt and ankle strap heels all from Sirens. Kept my accessories to a minimum, all in gold and finished with a patent clutch.

This is one of two of the biker jackets I own. I’ve had it for over 5 years now and to be honest it’s starting to show some wear and tear (sad face). I have though, been eyeing two replacement choices, one from H&M another from Zara – so next season I will make that decision. I paired this jacket from Suzy Shier with a mini skirt from Sirens to balance the look and a white V-neck t-shirt tucked in. The t-shirt is from Urban Outfitters and it’s absolutely one of my new favorite places to buy t-shirts. I really find that their t-shirts are made with the perfect amount of looseness to give you that relaxed look and feel. Super comfy of course and affordable too. To finish the look I wore one of the season’s hottest trends – ankle strap heels with buckle detail – also from Sirens. Accessories were kept to a minimum, with gold bangles and a gold watch.

Pink Please!

One of my favorite trends right now is the sneaker plus dress combo. In this look I paired a soft pink sheath dress with some easy slip-on sneakers. I initially purchased this dress last year to wear to a boat cruise – if this was me five years ago, that’s pretty much the only wear this dress would have received. These days I’m adopting the mantra that if I cannot wear an item both day and night, I won’t make the purchase. I’m trying to stay away from labeling my pieces as ‘occasion specific’ clothing and giving them as much wear as possible. I mean, of course some pieces will be purchased for specific occasions, but the point is not to limit that piece to one wear, one occasion.
