Pink Please!

photo

One of my favorite trends right now is the sneaker plus dress combo. In this look I paired a soft pink sheath dress with some easy slip-on sneakers. I initially purchased this dress last year to wear to a boat cruise – if this was me five years ago, that’s pretty much the only wear this dress would have received. These days I’m adopting the mantra that if I cannot wear an item both day and night, I won’t make the purchase. I’m trying to stay away from labeling my pieces as ‘occasion specific’ clothing and giving them as much wear as possible. I mean, of course some pieces will be purchased for specific occasions, but the point is not to limit that piece to one wear, one occasion.

Is it summer yet? There is just something about when the weather gets warmer – my mood is a lot more up beat, I notice that people are definitely more cheerful and for me personally its way easier to pick outfits out. Lately I’m getting into having flowers in my place, for now I go faux, but definitely will go the real deal soon. It is true what they say about flowers, it does lift  your spirits and put you into a much better mood. To kick-start this season I had to pull out one of my favourite pieces to rock when the weather gets warmer. Denim cutoffs are a must for me for the warmer weather. It’s a classic piece that you can pretty much pair with anything for a casually cool summer afternoon. in this look I paired mines with a white tee, blazer and nude pumps.

I was one of the many people going nuts when I saw H&M’s announcement, posted Saturday night at midnight. I must admit, at first I just scrolled past the post without any thought to it, but then I saw a post about the announcement on twitter and thought to myself ‘who what where and how?’. I immediately brought my butt back on instagram about 30 minutes later and it was instant excitement. I know the fashion world says this all the time about every H&M collaboration, but this has got to be the most exciting brand collaboration to date. I say this because Alexander Wang came onto the scene when fashion is being followed by everyone and his collection has been very popular amongst the younger crowd. The brand also has a heavy celebrity following  and lest we forget that infamous surprise giveaway to fans last August. Let’s just say that this may have been the most scariest thing ever seen in fashion – peep the video here. This is definitely going to be the first H&M collaboration I’m actually going to make a purchase from – I already see a camping out possibly happening *le sigh*.

Kick Start Spring!

photo (2)

I don’t know about you, but I’ve always stuck to the usual when wearing sneakers. I would pair mines with the obvious sweats, shorts, track pants etc. But these days, I’ve been inspired by fellow bloggers and of course the new ‘sporty chic’ rise of fame to feel free to wear my sneakers with whatever I want. As a whole, I feel that fashion has become less strict and a tone of rules are being broken. Us ladies are not just restricted to wearing an evening dress at cocktail hour, sneakers at the gym, or swim suits at the beach. We are seeing more and more people breaking the rules and making that ‘occasion specific’ piece work any time of the day, month or year. With all this said, see my round up of 7 ways to look super chic in your sneakers this spring  and summer.

photoSpring has definitely sprung and I couldn’t be more happier! Naturally we all start to ‘Think Spring’ and what to wear for the warmer season ahead. Lucky for you I’ve rounded up the top five season’s best for you to incorporate into your wardrobe this season. With sporty and versatile as the watchwords for Spring/Summer, you will find tons of whites, sheers, clean lines and pastels. See some of my runway to street picks below to get you all excited for spring.

SPORTY CHIC

DKNY Spring 2014

DKNY Spring 2014

Sporty has never looked this good! This sporty trend has definitely given the tomboy girls a high-five. But of course adding heels will definitely elevate this look from day to night.

STATEMENT SWEATER

Alexander Wang Spring 2014

Put that pop in your sweater this season with a statement one that is! The bigger and bolder the print, the better so think ‘go hard or go home when it comes to this trend.

FULL SKIRT

Diane von Furstenberg Spring 2014

If you thought full skirts were going anywhere, well think again! They are back and in full effect (pun intended). Pair yours this season with a cute crop top or keep it office friendly with a light sweater tucked in.

SHEER

Calvin Klein Spring 2014

My rule of thumb when wearing sheer is to keep your under garment the same colour for a cleaner look.

SHIFT BLOUSE

3.1 Phillip Lim

Talk about a shift in your shirt right! Being a huge fan of these tops I cannot stress how well they pull your entire look together. Try it in a crisp white and mix and match it with all your bottoms (skirts, shorts, denim, pencils etc.).
